ALTINKUM OVERVIEW There is a wealth of bars and restaurants offering a range of Turkish and British food. The beach- side restaruants tend to cater mostley for British Tourists however, if you venture further afield to Didim, you will find a great selection of great value authentic Turkish retaurants. The Temple of Apollo is only a short 10 minute journey from the resort centre. The resort offers a balance between a quite beach holiday with a lively nightlife, the beaches are beautiful and are very safe for children and families due to the shallow waters. Altinkum is 1 hour 30 minutes transfer from Bodrum Airport and 1 hour 45 minutes from Izmir Airport. It is located near many ancient sites, including Didyma, Miletos and Ephesus. Altinkum means “golden sands” and with its beaches which gently shelve into the inviting turquoise blue Aegean, you will soon see how the resort got its name. Excellent Beach life in Altinkum has also got water sports or pedals for those who prefer the pace of life a bit slower. Sun beds and umbrellas are available for rent and once settled there will be no need for you to move until sunset. |
| Away from the beach area you will find the pace of life a little slower and stumble across many traditional Turkish cafes and bars. In particular try to find the Palabiyik area. This is where a large percentage of British ex pats have settled, and following demand, lots of Turkish/English bars have opened. A popular one is Bizim Ora Cafe Bar which has a variety of events throughout the week including Darts, Dominoes, Bingo and Karaoke. | NIGHT-LIFE: Altinkum has a lively nightlife and particularly on the promenade you will find dozens of nightclubs and bars. Throughout the season they stay open until the small hours. It is not unusual to see happy tourists emerging from the nightclubs at 5am. Along with hosts of cafes and restaurants you will not need to look far for refreshments. |
